An extensive two-month cruise through Australia was terminated in the wake of the fatal incident of an older lady who was abandoned by the vessel on a distant tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the group for a pause. The vessel sailed away leaving her and went back several hours later after the ship staff became aware the passenger was unaccounted for.

A large-scale rescue mission found her person the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, together with police and the medical examiner.

Head of the voyage organizer said that guests and personnel on the ship were told that the rest of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and prior technical problems".

In a statement, he mentioned that passengers would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to arrange the travel back of the passengers via chartered flights".

Regulatory bodies also released an revised communication, and said they had "delivered a notice to the Master" prohibiting any further travelers from getting on the liner.

The official said that they would attend the ship in the Australian city upon its arrival.
